Steps to File a Disability Appeal in Georgia

Step 1: Request Reconsideration

After receiving a denial notice, the first step is to request reconsideration. This means that your case will be reviewed by someone who wasn’t involved in the initial decision.

• You must file your reconsideration request within 60 days from the date on your denial notice.
• Be sure to provide any new medical evidence or documentation that supports your claim.

Step 2: Request a Hearing Before an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ)
